Week 6 - Program for Online Teaching

Week 6: Internet Skills and Tools

Week 6 begins tomorrow ie Oct 7.  This week is mainly about Internet , web 2.0 skills and Tools These skills are one of my strength area. I started testing my skills with the quiz , Voila !
I scored 100% , superfun to take this quiz.

I encourage all participants to take this quiz, it is an energizer. This week activities seem  a cakewalk for me and I am glad I would be able to utilize time to catch up to do activities from previous weeks. I have also added Pedagogy First feed to my Google Reader. I find RSS a pretty smart way to aggregate articles , resources on to one place so that I don't have to visit 10 different sites and I get to read articles of interest on one page through  Google reader. As far as finding & embedding video activity is concerned , I would like to share a video by George Siemens , I am influenced by his thoughts on open education, connectivism . I had the opportunity to meet and hear him in person during one of the Education conference organized this year in India.

  1. Hi Ruchi, will be sure to take the test, could use some energy today. One question I have about web literacy is hard for me to define. Our students use the net in library and when I walk through I see Facebook and online poker games everywhere and no other uses. It's as if the whole wealth of information available was beyond their fixation on self and the familiar and invisible to them. To me, this isn't literacy in any sense of the word.

How do we introduce the concept of being part of something larger than self? That's important in school but seems missing. My mother was a teacher also and is likely the source of the curiosity I take for granted in myself and expect of others--it's deeper than just education.

Off to take the test. Thanks!

  2. Thanks for the assignment recap ~ I keep finding myself losing track this round, too many MOOCs, too little time ~ and need all the redundancy I can get. I'm going to recommend the quiz to my online esl study as well a local GED study group.

I've been an rss junkie for a while now. It is probably the tool I use the most. The "send to" (blogs, social media, etc) function is especially useful, but you have to go into Settings to add targets.

  3. The continuing rise in the level of popularity of online learning has evidently led to the rise in how many people are opting to get an academic diploma on-line. This is certainly very good news, in a way, since more and more people are given the opportunity to continue their education for the development of their expertise and betterment of their careers. The only issue with having so many choices in terms of online degree programs is that it makes it even more difficult for you to decide which online course would be the best for you. Allow me to share the points you have to think about when making a decision on what online degree program suits you: Visit Us for more info.
